DOH: Guidelines to prevent Legionnaires’ disease in water systems during pandemic shut down (Updated 9.20.20)

Many businesses have shut down or have been using their water systems sparingly during the Stay Home, Stay Healthy Order. This lack of use can contribute to the growth of Legionella and other pathogen and corrosion concerns.

The Department. of Health announced on April 16 guidelines to combat the growth of Legionella, a water-borne bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease.

Legionella is the bacteria that that causes Legionnaires’ disease, that sickens and kills more Americans than any other water-borne pathogen.
