[Venue operators] Shuttered Venue Operator Grant application portal reopens on Sat., April 24

< All Topics

On April 22, the U.S. Small Business Administration tweeted that the application portal for the Shuttered Venue Operator Grant will reopen at 12:30 p.m. (EDT) on April 24, or 9:30 a.m. here in Washington. Applicants can get started prior to that by creating an application portal account here.

The grant program, which includes $15 billion in grants to shuttered venues and other affected businesses, was established by the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act, which was signed into law last December. The administration has launched a portal to begin accepting applications on April 8 and has frequently asked questions and video tutorials on the grant’s dedicated page.

Who is eligible for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grants?

Eligible applicants may qualify for the grants equal to 45% of their gross earned revenue, with the maximum amount of $10 million.

Eligible entities include:

  • Live venue operators or promoters
  • Theatrical producers
  • Live performing arts organization operators
  • Relevant museum operators, zoos and aquariums that meet specific criteria
  • Motion picture theater operators

  • Each business entity owned by an eligible entity that also meets the eligibility requirements

Guidance that the administration previously released is still valid, and interested potential applicants can learn more about the grants  in the Washington Hospitality Association Coronavirus Resource Guide. You can also sign up for email alerts for updates on the roll out of the grant program.
