GSA: 2021 per diem rates for government travel (8.14.20)

According to the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) on Aug. 14, 2020, the General Services Administration released the FY2021 per diem rates for government travel in the Continental United States, which reflect pre-pandemic rates.

The fiscal year 2021 Continental United States per diem rate is $151:

• $96 lodging
• $55 meals

This is the same as fiscal year 2020.

AHLA worked with a bipartisan group of Congressional leaders to send multiple letters to the General Services Administration and supported the introduction of legislation that would freeze fiscal year 2021 and fiscal year 2022 rates at fiscal year 2020 levels.

Because of these efforts, the General Services Administration has adjusted the fiscal year 2021 data window for rate setting by one month (i.e. March 2019 through February 2020 in lieu of the standard April 2019 through March 2020) to not negatively depress fiscal year 2021 rates because of the coronavirus pandemic.
