King County Health Officer Dr. Jeff Duchin today issued a Health Officer Directive to keep wearing facemasks in indoor public spaces to slow the spread of coronavirus.

“I strongly recommend and urge all people in King County to voluntarily comply with this directive,” Duchin said in the directive. “And for all businesses that are open to the public, including grocery and other retail establishments, to continue implementing policies and practices to ensure that their customers and employees wear face masks.”

This directive will remain in effect until 70% of all adults 16 and older are fully vaccinated. You can read the entire document from Public Health—Seattle & King County here.
